(def. active - [ak-tiv] adj. : cornhole, badminton, volleyball, bars....) Last night I did my very first brick workout at Columns Dr. on my own. I've only been to Columns Dr. two other times, the first b/c I made a wrong turn and the second to learn how to ride a bike again. So I think I was going in the correct direction. Here are some observations:

1. Bike shorts can not be padded enough.
2. As friendly as others may seem on the bike path, they're not seemingly as friendly when they're blowing by you.
3. Nothing is more motivating than seeing little Timmy without his training wheels trucking along in the 90 degree heat with no signs of stopping (see pic).
4. I know now what the true meaning of 'Brick' equates to: me wanting to throw one at the cars driving by way too fast. (ok, and not being able to walk straight for at least an hour after the workout because your legs are immobile)
5. My definition of being 'active' may not go hand-in-hand with the training schedule.
6. It's not the same doing a workout on your own without the Team there giving their full support. (and full laughter after seeing you wearing spandex with a diaper sewn in)

But overall, I am definitely excited to train again. I can't wait to rejoin the group and hear everyone else's experiences!

As my cycle coach says: See you on the road!

Thanks Mike and Beth

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_NDTcxrtuYB0/SEXJetRlnCI/AAAAAAAAABk/jO5rRUIidcg/s200/IMG_0037.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5207790073510468642" />
Many thanks to Mike Gaw and Beth Rolfsen for filling in as substitute coaches while Sarah was playing hooky.

THANKS!

1-2-3 breathe

It was another great swim night, but I would be remissed if I didn't mentioned we missed Coach Sarah. We had two other coaches who assisted in her absence along with Lee, Mark, and Mark. Having the full 8 lanes we were spread out, doing back balance, side balance, active balance, sweet spot, skating and many more drills! Each week we'll honor one teammate with a blue cap. This cap representing someone who's had a great attitude, hasn't missed many swims or GTSs, or has given 110% to fundraising!
